Be rich in doing good.  Be generous and willing to share.

February 28thMarch 7thMarch 15thMarch 21stHoly Week

Throughout the Lenten season we will be turning our hearts to God in penance and prayer and to our neighbors in charity by means of our almsgiving, all in preparation for Easter.

Immaculate Conception parish is known for its selfless care and compassion for others, especially the poor.  There are many individuals and families who are struggling to pay heating bills, pay their rent and provide food for their tables as well as some who have become homeless.  Our Lenten Giving is aimed at meeting defined needs within our own community.  Your prayers and gifts will be greatly appreciated.  If you have any questions; please contact Martha McCook, at 508-460-3401 or Father Michael, at the rectory, 508-485-0016.

First week of Lent February 28th                                Mayor’s Charity Relief Fund

The Mayor’s Charitable Relief Fund provides emergency assistance to individuals and families who are struggling to pay for heat during our long New England winter due to events beyond their control such as unemployment. Please make checks payable to the Mayor’s Charitable Relief Fund and note “fuel assistance” in the memo section. Please place your gifts in the locked “Turkey Box” in the entryway of the Upper Church.

May God bless you for your many kindnesses to the poor throughout these many days of Lent. If you have any questions please call Martha McCook, 508-460-3401 or Father Michael, 508-485-0016.

Second week of Lent March 7th                                       Marlborough Food Pantry

The Marlborough Food Pantry is seeing a steady increase in the number of clients it serves as the economic downturn continues and unemployment rises.   They are in need of some specific items and have asked for our assistance in providing Hamburger Helper type meal mixes, canned fruit or grocery store gift cards for our neighbors in need.  Please place your food donations in the Lenten Giving boxes in the entryway to the Upper Church. Please put grocery store gift cards in the “Turkey Box”.

Third week of Lent March 15th                                                     Homeless Shelter

The clients at Roland’s House, the homeless shelter in Marlborough, are in need of gloves or men’s white athletic socks.  The number of people in need of shelter is on the rise as the economy continues to impact people from all walks of life.  Please place your donations in the Lenten Giving boxes in the entryway of the Upper Church.

Fourth Sunday of Lent March 21st                                       Catholic Relief Services

Earthquake victims in Haiti and Chile are in great need of assistance from Catholic Relief Services and will be for quite some time to come. Your donations will go directly to help those who were injured, those without housing, food, or water. Please place your donations in the locked  “Turkey Box”.  Please make checks payable to Immaculate Conception Parish and in the memo section note CRS earthquake relief.

Holy Week March 28th                                                      Marlborough Food Pantry

Our final week of Lenten giving will focus on the Marlborough Food Pantry.  As we start to think about Easter dinner for our own families, our neighbors need our help.  Please consider the gift of a grocery store gift card  which can be left in the locked "Turkey Box" or a donation of canned cooked pasta, cookies or crackers which can be placed in the boxes in the entryway of the church.
