Torrential rains have caused rivers to overflow, destroying small towns in the mountains of Rio Grande do Sul. Now, the capital city, Porto Alegre, faces catastrophic flooding. The Guaiba River could reach unprecedented levels of over 18 feet in the next few days, according to local officials. Over 600,000 people have been forced from their homes, with 155,000 homes lost entirely. A staggering 2.1 million are affected by this climate crisis."
Imagine losing everything in a flood. That's the reality facing families in Rio Grande do Sul.
Our Parish, along with the Archdiocese of Boston, is raising funds to directly help survivors. Our Pastor, Father Steven, a native of Porto Alegre, is in contact with first responders on the ground. Donations are urgently needed to provide food, shelter, and medical care.
All funds raised will go directly to victims in Porto Alegre and the Serra Gaucha mountain region.
Please help us bring relief to those in need. Donate today!
