Confirmation & Registration

Rite of Confirmation (two-year program)

The mission of the Immaculate Conception Parish religious education program is “to go and make disciples of all nations, using the tools of prayer, study, generosity and evangelization.” Our Confirmation Preparation program aims to help every member of the family thrive in these four areas of faith.

Below we provide an overview of our Confirmation program (teens who have completed the twelfth grade please contact the Religious Education Office for further information). Please carefully review and complete the registration form to enroll or re-enroll your child.

Our Confirmation Program consists of in person catechesis for 2 years. Both years meet for 14 sessions.

Both programs consist of:

  • Attending every session from 3pm-6pm, at the Parish Building located at 119 Washington Court (unless otherwise announced). Every session is tailored and therefore cannot be made up. If your child must miss a session for a serious reason, like illness, please contact the Religious Education Office at religious.education@icmarlboro.org or call 508-485-0016 and leave a message. Please assist your child in structuring her/his extracurricular activities and part-time job schedules so that there is no conflict with their religious education commitments.
  • On the date of each session all students will attend the 5pm Mass with their Confirmation Class.
  • Students will participate in the worship and service life of the Parish by attending Weekly Mass on Sunday at 5pm or other time as customary with your family. This is a two-year commitment.
  • Attend a one or two-day retreat (dates below).
  • Attend the Sacrament of Confession at least once during the year.

In addition, Year 2 students will:

  • Submit a Confirmation Sponsor eligibility form by November 6, 2024.
  • Complete a Saints Project which consists of researching a Saint and presenting a Poster Board at one of the sessions (date to be announced).
  • Write a Letter to the Bishop expressing their desire to be confirmed - due January
  • Create a Poster of a Saint - due February
  • Complete 20 hours of Charitable Work (Community Service) – due March
  • Attend the Sacrament of Confession – during Lent and prior to the Confirmation Mass
  • Attend a 15-minute consultation with the Confirmation Director and Priest for final consultation (dates to be announced)
  • Attend the Confirmation Rehearsal and Sacrament of Confession (dates to be announced) as well as participate in the Sacramental Mass.

The tuition rate for the Confirmation Prep program is $150 per year/per student. Kindly return tuition payment along with your registration form to: Immaculate Conception Parish, Office of Religious Education, 9 Washington Court, Marlborough, MA 01752
